Meanwhile, this week, Florida’s Republican-controlled legislature is planning a special session to redistrict its own political map to benefit the party.

This district — with an overwhelming Latino majority — is home to the highest Medicaid enrollment in the nation and two major ICE detention centers, issues that are at the center of the current congressional debate.
