SOTOMAYOR NOMINATED TO THE SUPREME COURT - After weeks of speculations, president Obama nominated judge Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court. Should the U.S. Senate confirm her nomination Sotomayor would become the first Latina in the highest court of the country. The nomination has unleashed polemic among Republicans; however there are signs indicating that the Puertorrican judge is likely to be confirmed. Marco Vinicio González files the report.

 

HELP FOR LGBT FARMWORKERS - Many California farmworkers are so desperate to keep their jobs that they rarely complain when there's a problem at work. When those farmworkers are gay, lesbian or transgender, they may face greater hurdles because of their sexual orientation. Now, a new project is helping them learn about their rights under California law. Sasha Khokha reports from the California’s San Joaquin Valley.

GOODBYE TO ROBERTO MARTÍNEZ - A few days ago, human rights fighter Roberto Luis Martinez died. He had earned international recognition for his work defending immigrant communities along the San Diego border region.  His funeral was attended by veteran activist, as well as by young organizers following in his footsteps. Manuel Ocaño spoke with attendees to the memorial service.
