Members of
Communities for a New California have praised Registrar Victor Salazar for
establishing the 20 early voting sites. But the activists believe more
still needs to be done to protect voting rights in Fresno.
“The county and
the community can do more,” said Gonzalez.” “CNC is doing its part by
going door-to-door to promote early voting and tell voters where there new
polling place will be on Tuesday. But we urge Mr. Salazar to establish
touch-screen mobile voting booths on Election Day at closed voting sites in the
most impacted areas. The establishment of tpicj screen early-voting sites
for Saturday shows this is possible.”
CNC’s door-knocking
on Saturday is part of a person-to-person campaign to notify voters that their
polling place has changed. Between now and Tuesday, 100 community members
with CNC will contact 10,000 voters by phone, at their door, and by mail.
