MONDAY, APR 21

PENNSYLVANIA PRIMARY: OPEN FORUM FROM LANCASTER. The Republican presidential nomination is clinched. Still, in the Democratic primary, Pennsylvania is brimming with the energy of a competitive race. While a non-traditional Latino state, Pennsylvania is expected to draw thousands of Latino voters out to the polls. Linea Abierta hits the road again to broadcast live from Lancaster county, a battleground of this critical vote. On the eve of the primary, Línea Abierta airs a forum to hear about the hopes and anxieties of Latino voters. This special program is part of the series “Hacia el Voto 2008” and is simulcast on radio and TV in collaboration with WLCH-FM in Lancaster, PA and Hispanic Telecommunications and Information Network (HITN-TV) in New York.

PENNSYLVANIA PRIMARY – ELECTION DAY. Correspondents in Lancaster, Harrisburg, and Philadelphia bring the latest news live from the voting polls. Reporters file stories on the election-day atmosphere, voter turnout, and informal exit polls. This one-hour report will broadcast live from the studios of WLCH in Lancaster, PA, as part of the series “Hacia el Voto 2008”. HITN-TV simulcasts the program via direct satellite and cable TV.

PENNSYLVANIA: THE RESULTS. A news report and analysis on the results following the election in Pennsylvania. Analysts give an oulook on the strategies used by the political campaigns to attract the Latino vote and the issues that motivated Latino voters to go to the polls. In addition, representatives of the presidential campaigns are been invited to comment on the battle for the Latino vote in the upcoming races in Indiana and North Carolina. This is a simulcast live from New York City in co-production with Hispanic Telecommunications and Information Network (HITN-TV), the Brooklyn-based cable TV/direct-satellite network. HITN-TV's Malin Falú and Radio Bilingüe’s Samuel Orozco co-host this special edition.

LITTLE VILLAGE RAIDS: ONE YEAR LATER. On the anniversary of the deportation raids that culminated in the round up of 160 people in the heart of Chicago’s Latino neighborhood, community groups hold an open-microphone forum near the scene of the controversial operation. This program originates live from the studios of WRTE-FM, Radio Arte in Chicago. Guest host Dulce Mora interviews eyewitnesses and immigrant advocates.

MEXICO EDITION. Martha Elena Ramírez hosts this edition of the Voz Pública series from Mexico City. The civic journalist brings news and analysis on Mexican developments.

 

PROGRAM # 5428. 13:00 PDT.

 

PUERTO RICO EDITION. In this pre-taped edition from San Juan, PR, WRTU’s Wanda Colón Cortés, brings news and analysis on major developments in the Caribbean basin.
