OFF LIMITS MIGRANT CAMPS? A coalition of advocacy organizations is making history by asking the United Nations to step in against the practice of denying farm workers the right to receive visitors and social service providers in U.S. migrant labor camps. The groups call this a human rights violation and urge federal action.

Can something be done to reunite families separated by deportation? Can the Affordable Care Act be extended to the dreamer youth benefitting from Deferred Action? NEW MORTGAGE LAW IN EFFECT. On January 1st, California’s Homeowners Bill of Rights went into effect. Considered the strongest anti-foreclosure legislation in the country, the law helps struggling homeowners modify their mortgage and save their homes. Advocates are starting a campaign to encourage homeowners to learn about the new law. This edition also includes news on the new agreement with banks to pay homeowners for mistakes made during the foreclosure process.

HEALTH TIPS AND BENEFITS FOR 2013.  A doctor gives advice on how to make small and simple changes to help people meet their New Year resolutions and live a healthier life. And with the health reform law taking full effect next year, a health expert comments on developments to watch in 2013, including the opening of enrollment for the Insurance Exchange to buy affordable health plans, the expansion of preventive care services thanks to new funding for state Medicaid programs, and the continuation of funding for low-income children who do not qualify for Medicaid.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 11.

MEXICO EDITION. Citizens begin to affiliate themselves individually with the National Regeneration Movement in Mexico, led by the left-of-center Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who is seeking to build a political party. The National Democratic Lawyers' Association has begun to collect signatures to reject the reforms to Mexico's Federal Labor Law, approved in November of 2012. The goal is to bring together 10 million workers to present a mass appeal to ask that the previous Constitutional Article 123 be respected. This edition also includes an interview with journalist Héctor Tenorio Muñoz, who comments on the meeting he had in 1993 with Hugo Chávez and the crucial moment lived in today's Venezuela. Martha Elena Ramírez hosts Voz Pública from Mexico City.
