Latinos Caravan to DNC, Border Wall Being Built in San Diego, and Citizens Sue Sheriff Arpaio in Arizona.

LATINOS CARAVAN TO DNC - Latino residents of Southern California will travel to Denver, Colorado for the Democratic National Convention to join a demonstration for just and humane immigration reform, and to pressure Democratic delegates to support a reform proposal backed by immigrant rights groups. An increase in raids and deportations is what pushed them to leave their homes and go on this trip. Rubén Tapia has the story.

BORDER WALL BEING BUILT IN SAN DIEGO - After twelve years of strong public opposition and an intense legal battle, heavy equipment has now arrived to the border area of Tijuana and San Diego to begin building a second and third border wall. The project will cost around 57 million dollars. Its consequences for many divided families go beyond the ecological damage to the region, because it will close the last public space where families can meet with their loved ones who cannot enter the United States. Mariana Martinez reports.

CITIZENS SUE SHERIFF ARPAIO IN ARIZONA - Sheriff Joe Arpaio of the most populated county in Arizona is not only facing a shower of criticism for his raids against undocumented immigrants. Now his campaign to root out illegal immigration will be decided in court. A group of U.S. citizens is accusing the sheriff of mistreating and persecuting Latinos only because of the color of their skin. In a federal lawsuit, the plaintiffs argue Arpaio is applying racial profiling, something which he denies. Elvia Díaz has been studying the controversy closely.
