Papal Visit to United States, Assassination of Radio Announcers Causes Public Outcry in Mexico, and Home Remedies and Medicine.

PAPAL VISIT TO UNITED STATES - Pope Benedict XVI made his first trip to the United States. The Catholic population in this country is the third largest in the world, after Brazil and Mexico. Experts say immigration from Latin America, particularly in the South, is adding to congregations, so much so that Benedict XVI referred to Latinos in their own language during a mass in Washington, D.C. The Pope also highlighted immigration in a meeting with President Bush. Patricia Guadalupe followed the papal visit.

ASSASSINATION OF RADIO ANNOUNCERS CAUSES PUBLIC OUTCRY IN MEXICO - The assassination of two community journalists in the Triqui region of Oaxaca, in southern Mexico, has caused public outcry. Social organizations and the United Nations have pointed out a critical state of freedom of speech in Mexico, considering the second most dangerous country for the media, after Iraq. The young radio journalists belonged to an autonomous municipality created in one of the poorest areas of Oaxaca, characterized by decades of violence between opposing political groups. Our correspondent Vladimir Flores has more from the capital city of Oaxaca.

HOME REMEDIES AND MEDICINE - In American popular culture, traditional herbs are considered alternative medicine. Anthony Jáuregui from Radio Juventud says these remedies represent an extremely important tradition in his family, as they do for millions of Latino families in this country. This story is a collaboration with Radio Juventud, a radio network without borders, produced by Youth Radio.
