ALLIANCE FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY ANNOUNCES EVENTS FOR CITIZENSHIP DAY

Unprecedented Voter Registration, GOTV Efforts Will Turn Out 1 Million in November

Washington, DC – On Wednesday, September 17th, leaders from several organizations that form the We Are America Alliance (WAAA) will hold a telephonic press conference to announce events happening all over the country in celebration of National Citizenship Day.

The partner organizations of WAAA are spearheading a never before seen nationwide voter mobilization drive in the Latino, Asian, and immigrant communities.  WAAA and its partners have been engaged for over two years in an unprecedented and coordinated effort by groups all over the country to do research, field work and expanded outreach to register 500,000 new immigrant voters and to mobilize one million immigrant voters to cast ballots on Election Day.  So far, this effort has resulted with 1.4 million citizenship applications and collectively has registered over 300,000 new voters alongside other partners like Ya Es Hora.    The Alliance will be spending $10 million on this effort and will focus its efforts in 13 key states.  This election is a hotly contested event, likely to be decided by several states with large Hispanic and immigrant populations.  New voters may well prove to be the decisive swing vote in the Presidential contest as well as in numerous state and local races.  And once immigrant voters prove their importance on Election Day, they will continue to engage in the civic process and will hold their elected officials accountable.
