Radio Bilingüe airs live a Family Unity Tour Forum to hear testimonies from immigrant families living in the shadows

San Francisco, CA - Radio Bilingüe is pleased to announce the live broadcast of a community forum in Salinas, CA, to hear testimonies from families separated and harmed by federal raids and deportations.

This special event is the latest in a nationwide immigration-reform tour spearheaded by U.S. Representative Luis Gutiérrez to document the human cost of the crisis of the immigration system. The Family Unity tour has already visited nearly twenty cities and now it reaches out to the communities of Salinas and San Jose, CA.

Radio Bilingüe’s Immigration News Desk, including teams of the nationally-distributed program Línea Abierta and KHDC-Salinas’ Alza tu Voz, will bring to the airwaves and online stream the voices of members of Congress, community leaders, and immigrant families.

The special-event coverage will broadcast on Friday, April 17, from 5:00 PST to 7:00 PM PST from the site of St, Mary of the Nativity Catholic Church in Salinas, CA. The program will include remarks by Congressman Luis Gutiérrez, United Farm Workers president Arturo Rodriguez, immigrant workers, and their families.

A tape-delayed edition of this program will broadcast and webcast on Línea Abierta on Monday, April 20, at 12:00 PM PST.

Funding for this special project is provided in part by the Evelyn and Walter Haas Jr Fund, The California Endowment, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
