Radio Bilingüe Airs Extensive Broadcast from the Floor of the National Conventions

Radio Bilingüe’s Hacia el Voto 2008 multi-media news team continues its extensive coverage of the elections with a live broadcast and webcast of the Democratic National Convention in Denver, CO, from August 25 through 28, and the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, MN, from September 1 through 4.

Radio Bilingüe’s executive producer Samuel Orozco will host live interviews and roundtable discussions from broadcast sites by the convention floor, and a team of reporters from Radio Bilingüe and partner station WRTE, Radio Arte in Chicago will file news reports from inside and outside the convention center.

Radio Bilingüe’s more than ten hours of Spanish-language broadcast coverage will include the following radio and online services:

n      Línea Abierta - Extended Edition. Two-hour live broadcast from the convention center, Monday through Wednesday from 12 noon to 2 PM PDT.

n      Línea Abierta – Acceptance Speech. Two-hour gavel-to-gavel broadcast of the nomination acceptance speech, Thursday evening approx. from 6 PM to 8 PM PDT.

n      Edición Semanaria. This newsmagazine will feed a special edition with full focus on the convention on Friday, following each convention.

n      Noticiero Latino. News stories from the convention will air during each day on the hourly segments of Noticiero Latino.

n      Radio Bilingüe Archives. Radio Bilingüe will archive the programs and news segments online. They will be available via audio-on-demand and podcast.

n      Images. Photographs from news events and convention activities will be posted online.

n      Vox Populi. Brief transcripts of voices from convention delegates, local residents, and demonstrators will be posted online.

n      Chat and Email. Listeners will be invited to submit questions and comments via a special chatroom and email.

n      Blog. Reporters and producers will file commentary and news accounts and listeners will be invited to interact.

This special convention coverage is part of the year-long Hacia el Voto 2008 series that began airing in January in Chicago through “Linea Abierta on the Road” -- a special itinerant series originating from the home site of partnering stations throughout the nation.
