INTENSIFIED LOBBYING FOR IMMIGRATION REFORM – After declaring a recess following intense debates on immigration reform, senators return to their districts to hear the opinions of their constituents. National organizers launched widespread campaigns to influence the immigration debate. Will these campaigns make a difference when the discussion renews in the Senate on Monday? Rubén Tapia has followed the lobbying and reports from Los Angeles.

LAW TO PROHIBIT RENTING TO UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS STOPPED – A federal judge froze a municipal ordinance to prohibit renting housing to families without immigration documents in Farmers Branch, a suburb of Dallas, Texas. Civil rights groups declared the law, which was recently passed by local voters, unconstitutional. Patricio Espinoza reports from Texas.

RESIDENTS OPPOSE ENERGY PROJECT IN OAXACA – In the last decade, the Mexican government has promoted trade and investment in a region that includes southern Mexico and Central America, under a plan called Plan Puebla Panama. According to supporters, the Plan will help eliminate poverty in the region. However, social organizations oppose the government plan, saying its projects will only benefit transnational companies. Vladimir Flores reports on the opposition to one such project for energy production in the Istmo de Tehuantepec, in the state of Oaxaca.
