A demonstrator describes how he was released by an understanding Border Patrol agent only to have his car confiscated by a draconian local police officer.

One thousand community activists from several states converged recently on Washington in efforts to stop anti-immigrant legislations. They organized a sit-in at the offices of the Federation for American Immigration Reform, met with secretary Mel Martínez on affordable housing and urged Congress to pass bills allowing undocumented students to enroll in college. Advocates say that soda machines in public schools contribute to the epidemic of obesity and cavities and large school districts have successfully established campuses free of soda sales. Opponents reply that childhood obesity is a complex problem that requires individual responsibility, not demonizing soft drinks. HEALTH EDITION - WAITING FOR BEBÉ. A conversation with Lourdes Alcañiz, an award-winning journalist and the author of Waiting for Bebé: A Pregnancy Guide for Latinas. The recently-released book explores pregnancy concerns of especial interest to Latinas, including health insurance, finding the right doctor, the use of medicinal herbs, and traditions and myths impacting Latina mothers-to-be.ALSO, DEMENTIA TIED TO HORMONE THERAPY. Older women who take combination hormone therapy are at much higher risk of developing dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. This is revealed in a new scientific study. Dr. Claudine Legault, co-author of the study, warns about prescribing this therapy for postmenopausal women. Dr. Legault is director of the Women's Health Center of Excellence and associate professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Starting June, Línea Abierta’s format changes from a two-hour to a one-hour weekday program. Línea Abierta will continue at 12:00 PDT (3 PM EDT).
From 1 PM to 2 PM (PDT), Satélite Radio Bilingüe will broadcast two programs. Radio Nederland’s Informativo RN, with international breaking news and interviews, and Raíz Grabada, produced by Radio Educación, a program featuring folk music from various Mexican regions and anecdotes and commentary by researcher Thomas Stanford and host Enrique Rivas Paniagua.
