EL FISGON. This program features a conversation with Mexican cartoonist Rafael Barajas, "El Fisgon," a contributor to La Jornada and other top Mexican newspapers and publications. Barajas, a 1999 National Journalism Award recipient, talks about his recent books, "El Sexenio me da Pena," about the Zedillo administration, and "La Historia de un Pais en Caricatura (Caricatura Mexicana de Combate 1829-1872), which chronicles Mexican cartoon tradition during the XIX century.

BAN RARRA. The acclaimed Cuban folklore group Ban Rarra returns to the United States for a three-week artistic residency. Ban Rarra has scheduled ten energetic music and dance concerts around the San Francisco Bay area, with Haitian Cuban dance styles such as "Son," "Cha Cha," "Vodu," "Gaga," "Tumba Francesca" and "Tajona." This program airs in celebration of Black History Month.

INCOME TAX TIME. The season of income tax preparations is back and government officials are warning against consultants who offer bigger returns and invent dependents. OMAR SOSA. Award-winning Cuban composer and pianist Omar Sosa presents in San Francisco his first work for orchestra entitled "From Our Mother." The Oakland Youth Orchestra will perform his new work. Omar's orchestral piece incorporates musical elements from Afro-Cuban and Afro-Ecuadorian folkloric traditions. Omar, a virtuoso of Afro-Cuban and American jazz rhythms, will also perform with his own Latin jazz ensemble. The concert features material from his soon-to-be- released recording "Prietos." This is a special program in celebration of National Black History Month.
