Environmental groups warn that if the biotech industry and academic researchers continue testing genetically engineered varieties of fruits and vegetables, these farming markets may collapse due to consumer rejection of gene-altered foods abroad. A report commissioned by the California Endowment concludes that while young farm workers do constant physical work, they are at alarmingly high risk for chronic diseases such as heart disease, stroke and diabetes. The study also says that it is ironic that those workers responsible for putting healthy foods on U.S. tables are among the most malnourished.ALSO, FLORIDA: THE DEADLINE. On this day, Florida has to submit its slate of 25 delegates for the Electoral College. Some lawsuits challenging the results of the presidential election are expected to conclude by this day.
