HEALTH EDITION - ROAD ACCIDENTS. Farm workers are not familiar with automobile driving laws in California and the U.S. and many end up involved in fatal traffic crashes. In response, organizations in two rural counties of California are joining forces to educate Spanish-speaking farm workers on dangers such as discourteous driving and failure to observe stop and other hazard signs.This program airs on the fourth anniversary of the tragic crash that killed 13 farm workers near Fresno, CA.

ALSO, FIELD SANITATION. A conversation with a workplace safety official who travels around California organizing foros campesinos to educate farm workers and inspecting agricultural fields. He seeks to enforce laws requiring drinking water, toilets and hand washing facilities in the field to prevent urinary tract infections, heat stress, and skin disease. Also, vineyard workers are suing a company claiming they were required to taste unsanitary grapes, and failed to provide accessible toilets and handwashing facilities. One plaintiff talk about her complaint.

HEALTH EDITION - DEHYDRATION. Those who live and work in the warm areas of the Sun Belt are exposed to constant loss of water and dehydration. Dr. Elmer Huerta, a regular commentator, talks about the dangers of moderate and severe dehydration, how to tell when the body getting dehydrated, how to replace it and how to protect against heat stroke. Dr. Huerta also reports on his recent participation at the World Conference on Tobacco or Health in Helsinki, where thousands of health professionals gathered to plan actions to fight tobacco consumption.
