PROGRAM # 2469 - DEATH PENALTY IN ILLINOIS. The task force designated by Illinois Gov. George Ryan to study the impact of the death penalty in the state began public hearings this week. Gov. Ryan declared a moratorium on executions, pending an evaluation after a number of death row cases have eventually been found not guilty.
