COMMUNITY FORUM ON SEXUAL HARRASSMENT IN THE FIELDS TO TAKE PLACE IN DINUBA, CA

Assistance & Radio Bilingüe will host a forum on sexual harassment
in agricultural fields and packinghouses on July 12, 2006, from 6:00 p.m.
to 8:00 p.m. at Washington Middle School located at 1250 N.Hayes Avenue in
Dinuba, California.
Radio Bilingüe
will be broadcasting live at the forum, which will include presentations by
women who have experienced sexual harassment and decided to take action to
stop the abuse. Among the women who will be sharing their testimonials is
Olivia Tamayo, who successfully sued Harris Ranch for failing to take action
against a foreman whom she had reported for harassment and rape. The forum
will also feature the case of women who have a suit pending against Kovacevich
5 Farms for refusing to hire women.
Attorneys and community workers from CRLA, EEOC and the State Department of
Fair Housing and Employment will be available to inform workers about their
rights and remedies available when they face sexual harassment. Radio Bilingüe's
live broadcast will be available at KSJV 91.5 FM- Fresno, KMPO 88.7 FM- Modesto-Stockton
and KTQX 90.1 FM- Bakersfield-Lamont, and as a live web cast on www.radiobilingue.org.The
forum is part of the Poder Popular initiative, with support from The California
Endowment.
