Radio Bilingüe broadcasts live the opening events of the National Museum of the American Indian on the National Mall

Thousands of Native peoples from across the American continent will gather in Washington, D.C. to celebrate the opening of the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, institution that seeks to celebrate the heritage of the first Americans.
Radio Bilingüe will be there to take this cultural celebration to Spanish-speaking audiences throughout the U.S. and Mexico.
AIR TIMES: Tuesday, September 21, 3 PM EDT to 5 PM EDT; Wednesday, September 22, 3 PM EDT to 5 PM EDT

The special radio coverage will include sounds from the grand opening ceremony and the First Americans Festival. It will also include live conversations in Spanish with storytellers, singers, dancers and performers from Quechua, Maya, Putumayo, Yoreme, Kuna and other indigenous nations.
This project is in collaboration with the National Museum of the American Indian and American Indian Radio on Satellite.
Radio Bilingüe is the national Latino public radio network. It is based in Fresno and San Francisco, CA and distributes bilingual programming in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Mexico.

The Smithsonian’s NMAI is the first U.S. national museum dedicated to the preservation, study, and exhibition of the life, languages, literature,
history, and arts of Native Americans.
