Beginning Thursday, September 25, Radio Bilingüe will join Radiarte for a new season of the radio series Sin Fronteras (Without Borders), a live interconnection across the border between audiences in the United States and Western Mexico.

The premiere edition will air from Ixtapan de la Sal, near Mexico City, site of this year's gathering of RED, the Mexican association of public broadcasters. Influential broadcasters are scheduled to join Sin Fronteras to analyze issues such as Mexico's changing federal communications law, recent efforts to promote participation of mexicans on both sides of the border in Mexico's political and cultural life, and the current emergency in migrant states by torrential rains.

For this new season, Radio Bilingüe has expanded its satellite service into new cities, and expect to add seven more satellite-connected user stations to its network in the near future.

Radiarte plans to upgrade its transmitting capability to reach yet new areas in Western Mexico's migrant heartlands.

The radio series Sin Fronteras, a special edition of Linea Abierta, the national public radio talk show in Spanish, will air every last Wednesday of the month, featuring interviews with top news sources from both sides of the border to discuss news developments in areas of special interest to bi-national Mexicans, such as migrant health, immigration reform, money remittances, travel safety, and others.

This season, Blanca Calzada will host the program in Guadalajara. Blanca is a long time journalist from Guadalajara. She currently hosts a weekly news and commentary talk show in Radiarte.

Samuel Orozco, executive producer of Linea Abierta, hosts in San Francisco. Orozco is Radio Bilingüe's news director since 1983, and founding executive producer of Línea Abierta, an eight-year-old network call-in show.

With more than 60 years on the air, XEJB, 630 AM, Radiarte, is a pioneer of non-commercial radio in Mexico. The station is owned by the state's Sistema Jalisciense de Radio y Televisión and broadcasts a mix of talk radio and Iberoamerican music. Radiarte serves the entire metropolitan area of Guadalajara, Mexico's second largest city, and other major cities in Jalisco and neighboring Michoacan state.

Radio Bilingüe is the national Latino public radio network in the U.S. With offices in Fresno and San Francisco, CA, the non-profit network distributes ground-breaking news, information and cultural programming. Sixty stations around the United States, Puerto Rico and northern Mexico are affiliated to Radio Bilingüe's satellite service.

Funding for Línea Abierta, Radio Bilingüe's flagship program, comes from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and The California Endowment.
