Radio Bilingüe, the national latino public radio network highlights Lamont, CA on national radio.

Radio Bilingüe, the National Latino Public Radio Network, is holding a news conference to celebrate its one-year anniversary of broadcasting from its studios located inside Clínica Sierra Vista in Lamont. To celebrate, Radio Bilingüe is hosting a news conference, with its Executive Director, Hugo Morales and Clínica Sierra Vista’s Executive Director, Steve Schilling. As prelude, Radio Bilingüe’s, Línea Abierta, the first and only Spanish language national talk show interconnecting Spanish-speaking audiences throughout the U.S., México, and Puerto Rico, will broadcast live a special vignette of testimonials from the Lamont/Arvin community.

In addition, Radio Bilingüe will release information pertinent to its participation in the First Five Statewide Campaign, a resource that aims to take care of its children ages 0-5 and farmworker families in Fresno, Stanislaus, Tulare, Imperial, Salinas, Santa Cruz, and Kern Counties. Radio Bilingüe will also inform attendees about its work with the California Endowment on a Farmworker Health Initiative that is aimed at improving the lives of farmworkers and their families.

Radio Bilingüe is the largest producer and distributor of Spanish-language programming in public radio. Established more than twenty-five years ago, Radio Bilingüe provides news and information to farm workers and other Latinos throughout the U.S., Mexico, and Puerto Rico, as well as programming to Hmong and Mixtec audiences. Radio Bilingüe is the only community radio outlet in Kern County.

Línea Abierta, launched in 1995, with collaboration from Radio Educación in Mexico City and Radio Universidad de Puerto Rico, is a two-hour talk show offering news, features, interviews, roundtable discussions, special series, and listener call-ins on topics such as health, immigration, education, the arts and culture, and current events.
