Film maker Edward James Olmos talks about education, cultural roots and multiculturalism

In celebration of National Latino Heritage Month, Radio Bilingüe presents a speech by actor, director and producer Edward James Olmos. He addressed National University graduates at a commencement ceremony on Mother's Day in San Diego, CA.

This special program airs on Thursday, September 26, at 6:30 PM PDT on Satelite Radio Bilingüe.

Olmos address in his speech the issue of what it means to be a Latino and a Chicano. He also talks about his mixed roots in a call for a nation that will deal with racial differences and will celebrate its common humanity.

"When you look at Edward James Olmos, you remember very well that I am African first, Asian second, Indigenous third, mixed with my European-ness and that's what makes me brown".

National University, a private, non-profit university with an emphasis in granting master's degrees to Latinos and women, provided the audio recording.
